Anthony Muhammad

“Everything Starts Small.”

Anthony Muhammad Student Minister, Scientist, Educator, Mentor, Artist, and Father, received his degree in Bioscience Technology, was awarded the young man of the year award in 2014, featured on the popular show, “The STEM Files”, broadcasting STEM professionals, performed at the Sweet Auburn Music Fest for multiple years as an artist, and is a newly inspired author.

Anthony was raised by both parents born in Brooklyn, NY, yet moved from the big city to the small, country town of Rex, GA, where he spent most of his life.  As a child Anthony was allowed to be free, caring, and sensitive. Raised mostly around women, Anthony learned early on how to sympathize with the pain women experience. Due to his father being a traditionally hardworking man, some of his ideals of manhood came from older male friends and family.

In school, Anthony was very intelligent, but for fear of being used and judged, he masked his wisdom by assuming the role of the goofy black guy.  However, his test results revealed the truth, showcasing how gifted Anthony was in every subject. He excelled in math and science primarily because of two lessons he learned from his father.

1) You can do anything you put your mind to, and

2) Everything is math and science.

Anthony lived his life according to these two principles and made his journey to become a doctor, being the first in his family to make it into medical school.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Anthony left medical school. Instead of allowing this career path detour to get him down, he used his amassed experiences and made the commitment to devote himself to ensuring that young minority children had better opportunities to explore their gifts toward STEAM professions.

Mentoring Experience

Anthony has worked with various middle and high school youth over the past 3 years as a mentor. Not just academically, but as a rolemodel as well. He teaches with real world appliation in a relaxed way that leaves room for plenty of questions and discussion. He believes everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard. When you can genuinely make a subject interesting and fun, it becomes a lot easier for a person to learn it.
